Long-term technology development program for the capital construction function
Oil fields tend to be located in remote areas. Harsh climate, long distances to the nearest accommodation and transportation infrastructure problems – all this can turn into major difficulties and heavy costs during field infrastructure development. Each additional ton of cargo becomes critical, if it is to be delivered over thousands of kilometers along winter roads. Benefiting from innovative technologies, Gazprom Neft selects the best infrastructure and logistics plan for each asset. The long-term technology development program includes 16 technological projects, each designed to address one or several issues identified during analysis.
Gazprom Neft has been able to produce additional oil revealed following the digital processing of geological data at the Vyngarupovskoye field in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YANAO). These new strata, which were previously difficult to locate using traditional methods, were first identified via a self-learning programme developed by the Gazprom Neft Science and Technology Centre, in collaboration with IBM Services. With the help of the programme, Gazprom Neft has been able to produce oil from these strata without extra drilling costs or the need to create additional infrastructure.
