Gazprom Neft improves reservoir management by using AI
Gazprom Neft has successfully completed a trial of its proprietary digital oil recovery efficiency enhancement system. The software helps analyze thousands of field development scenarios and choose the best options. The system’s designers from the company’s Science and Technology Center expect to achieve an economic gain of over 500 mln rubles through the introduction of the new digital product only at the pilot fields of
The ERA:OptimA artificial intelligence system optimizes all the field development processes and helps choose the most effective layout for new wells and operating conditions of existing wells based on 3D modeling. The system was put to trial at the
Until recently, the calculations and analyses during the development preparation phase were by far a manual process. It would take almost one week to evaluate just one scenario. Today, the system automatically positions the wells, defines their management parameters, initiates oil production calculation, analyzes the economics, and then offers a series of the most effective scenarios for the operator to choose.
The estimates indicate that the scenarios offered by the system are 20–30% more
ERA:OptimA system was developed within the framework of the ERA (Electronic Asset Development) domain of Gazprom Neft’s Technology Strategy.
