In 2015, Vocational School 82 in Petrogradsky District of Saint Petersburg opened the city’s first “Gazpromneft-class” for senior students. In this class, the basic school curriculum with in-depth study of natural science is complemented by specialized subjects that are taught by Gazpromneft STC staff and lecturers from Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University.

During the last two years of school (grades 10 and 11), twenty-six students selected after examination by a committee made up of school and company representatives receive specialized training that enables them to enter industry-specific universities and learn professions that are in high demand at Gazprom Neft. In this class, students also get to know the basics of petroleum business. Additionally, they study the fundamentals of geology and material science, mathematical modeling in petroleum applications, and applied physics. Besides the specialized subjects in the oil and gas field, the curriculum includes courses in time management, theory of inventive problem solving and other disciplines. Extracurricular program includes field practice tours, practical classes at laboratories of industry-specific universities, as well as visits to the company’s offices and field sites.

Gazprom Neft supports the strategy of building a lifelong learning system “school — university — company”. Similar “Gazpromneft-classes” currently function in the towns of the company’s presence — Omsk and Noyabrsk. The company is involved in permanent collaboration projects with industry-specific universities in Saint Petersburg (SPB Mining University, Polytechnic University and SPB State University) and Moscow (Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology), accepts their students for traineeship and trains students at its own departments for master’s degree.
